Consolidating Innovative Development Consensus and Converging Forces for High-Quality Development – The Successful Opening of the 2023 Annual Conference of the Glass Fiber Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society and the 43rd National Glass Fiber Professional Information Network Annual Conference

On July 26, 2023, the 2023 Annual Conference of the Glass Fiber Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society and the 43rd National Glass Fiber Professional Information Network Annual Conference were successfully held in Tai’an City. The conference adopted a “dual-track synchronous online and offline” mode with nearly 500 representatives from the glass fiber and composite materials industries gathered on-site, along with 1600 online participants. Under the theme “Consolidating Innovative Development Consensus and Converging Forces for High-Quality Development,” the attendees engaged in specialized discussions and exchanges on the current development trends, technological research, and innovative applications in the domestic glass fiber and composite materials industry. Together, they explored how to lead the industry towards high-quality development, boost domestic demand, and create new opportunities for win-win cooperation. This conference was jointly organized by the Tai’an Municipal People’s Government, the Glass Fiber Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society, the National Glass Fiber Professional Information Network, the National New Material Testing and Evaluation Platform Composite Materials Industry Center, and the Jiangsu Carbon Fiber and Composite Material Testing Service Platform. The Tai’an High-Performance Fiber and Composite Material Industry Chain, the Daiyue District People’s Government of Tai’an City, and the Dawenkou Industrial Park were responsible for the organization, while Tai Shan Glass Fiber Co., Ltd. provided support. The conference also received strong support from LiShi (Shanghai) Scientific Instruments Co., Ltd. and Dassault Systèmes (Shanghai) Information Technology Co., Ltd. Upholding the goal of high-quality development and embarking on a new journey of green and low-carbon development 2023 is the year to comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and a critical year for the transition from the 13th Five-Year Plan to the 14th Five-Year Plan. A series of pragmatic measures proposed during the National Two Sessions, such as enhancing technological innovation capabilities, building a modern industrial system, and promoting the green transformation of development modes, have sent a clear signal to adhere to the principles of “stability as a top priority” and concentrate efforts on promoting high-quality development. The glass fiber and composite materials industry has reached a crucial moment for consensus-building, aggregating forces, and seeking development. Strengthening collaborative innovation throughout the industry, promoting high-end, intelligent, and green development, enhancing the quality of supply, and boosting endogenous momentum and application vitality have become the focal tasks for the industry’s development. In his speech at the conference, Liu Changlei, the Secretary-General of the China Glass Fiber Industry Association, pointed out that the glass fiber industry is currently facing new challenges, such as supply-demand imbalances, saturated demand in some segmented markets, and strategic contraction by overseas competitors. With the industry entering a new stage of development, it is essential to explore new areas and opportunities, strengthen scientific and technological innovation, accelerate the transition from digital empowerment to carbon reduction empowerment, and shift from simply “expanding” the glass fiber industry to transforming it into a “major player” in the industry. Additionally, it is crucial to delve into the advantages and application value of glass fiber materials, actively conduct application research and product development, and promote the application of glass fiber in new areas such as photovoltaics, smart logistics, new thermal insulation, and safety protection. These efforts will provide strong support for the industry’s transformation towards high-quality development. Focusing on multidimensional innovative applications to fully unleash the industry’s new momentum This conference introduced a “1+N” venue model, featuring one main venue and four sub-venues. The academic exchange session brought together industry organizations, research institutes, universities, securities companies, and renowned experts and scholars in the upstream and downstream sectors to focus on the theme of “Deepening Innovation Development Consensus and Converging Forces for High-Quality Development.” They discussed the innovative applications and developments of glass fiber and composite materials in special fibers, as well as in new energy vehicles, wind power, photovoltaics, and other fields, mapping out the blueprint for the industry’s development. The main venue was presided over by Wu Yongkun, the Secretary-General of the Glass Fiber Branch of the Chinese Ceramic Society. Seizing upon new industry trends and opportunities for development. Currently, the fiber and composite materials industry is implementing the “dual-carbon” goal and the strategy of innovation-driven development, steadily advancing energy conservation, carbon reduction, and accelerating the pace of transformation towards green, intelligent, and digitalization. These efforts lay a solid foundation for the industry to overcome development challenges and create a new chapter of high-quality development. Based on the testing and evaluation system to empower the industry to improve quality and efficiency. In recent years, strategic emerging industries represented by new energy vehicles, wind power, and photovoltaics have put forward higher requirements for various components of glass fiber and composite materials. Breaking through into new application scenarios to solidify the foundation of innovative technology. As an inorganic non-metallic material with superior performance, glass fiber meets the requirements of national green and low-carbon development. Its application scale continues to expand in fields such as wind power and new energy vehicles, and breakthroughs have been made in the photovoltaic sector, indicating vast development prospects. The conference also hosted the 7th “Glass Fiber Industry Technology Achievement Exhibition,” where upstream and downstream companies showcased new products, technologies, and achievements. This created an efficient platform for mutual exchange, consensus-building, deepened cooperation, and resource integration, facilitating communication and collaboration between companies along the industrial chain and promoting mutual growth, synergy, and development. The conference received unanimous praise from all participants. The clear theme, well-structured sessions, and rich content closely aligned with the goal of achieving high-quality development. By focusing on technological progress and application innovation, and leveraging the academic platform of the branch, the conference fully tapped into the wisdom and resources, wholeheartedly promoting the acceleration of the development of fiber and composite materials industry.
